Boston Pops Conductor and Utah Symphony Music Director Keith Lockhart has been named to the MTNA FOUNDATION Music Advisory Council.
Lockhart, in his eighth season as Boston Pops conductor, has conducted more than 300 concerts and made 38 television shows. Prior to being named the twentieth conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, Lockhart was associate conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops orchestras and music director of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, a title he held from 1992-1999.
In 1998, Lockhart was named music director of the Utah Symphony. Under his direction, the Utah Symphony performed at the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Lockhart also conducted the orchestra with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a nationally broadcast PBS special in December 2001.
"Keith Lockhart is an exceptional choice for the FOUNDATION's Music Advisory Council," says Gary L. Ingle, MTNA executive director. "He combines the best of both musical worlds--classical and popular."
The MTNA FOUNDATION Advisory Council provides integral support to the overall mission of the FOUNDATION. The Council, through its members' skills, insights, stature and influence, advances the organization's unique and comprehensive programs, which nurture the creation, performance, study and teaching of music.
