At the annual business meeting, the MTNA Board of Directors is proposing an amendment to Article I, Section 3 of the MNTA Bylaws regarding terms of office for National and Division officers. The purpose of the amendment is to modify the beginning and ending of officer terms. Currently, officers take office thirty days following the annual session. The proposed amendment would change that date to the close of the annual session. The Bylaw currently reads: "Article V. Officers Section 3. National and Division Term of Office Each officer shall be elected for one term of two (2) years and serve until his or her successor assumes office. The term of office shall begin and end thirty days following the close of the annual session in the election year."
The proposed change reads: "Article V. Officers Section 3. National and Division Term of Office Each officer shall be elected for one term of two (2) years and serve until his or her successor assumes office. The term of office shall begin and end [begin strikethrough] thirty days following [end strikethrough] at the close of the annual session in the election year."
