Percussion Competition reinstated - National Association News - Music Teachers National Association Student Percussion Competitions - Brief Article

American Music Teacher, Feb-March, 2003

After a one-year suspension, the MTNA Student Percussion Competitions have been reinstated at all levels. Percussion competitions will be held as part of the 2003-2004 MTNA Competitions.

The Board of Directors postponed the competitions for 2002-2003 to study and improve several problematic aspects related to philosophy and procedures.

"MTNA remains committed to providing the finest student competitions in the country," says MTNA President R. Wayne Gibson, NCTM. "The changes made by the Board ensure the highest level of competition in the percussion area."

A major change involves the appointment of a percussion facilitator who will assist the director of competitions with the implementation process.
