Crazy Campsongs, a new songbook released by Jenpet Books, features a collection of original new songs for kids presented in a comical format.
Written by musical raconteurs George Petersen and JJ Jenkins and illustrated by Jack Davis, Crazy Campsongs offers a new patent-pending method, "Tuneswapping," allowing people to sing the words of Crazy Campsongs to thousands of other existing tunes. One need not have music reading ability, but only know the melody of the song they will be replacing with new lyrics.
"Kids who can't relate to songs like 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' or 'I've Been Working on the Railroad,' think it's marvelous fun to sing about things they can identify with like homework, junk food, pets, funny little brothers and hanging at the mall," said Petersen.
Petersen and Jenkins are San Francisco-area performers who play in the band Ariel. Petersen also is editor of Mix Magazine, and Jenkins is a musicologist and lecturer.
Crazy Campsongs is available from Amazon.com at www.amazon.com and select independent booksellers. For more information contact Jenpet Books.
