Music Study Awards a hit - Association News - Brief Article

American Music Teacher, April-May, 2002

MTNA members are taking advantage of the new MTNA Music Study Award to celebrate their students' musical accomplishments, and the orders are pouring in at headquarters. In fact, they are in the second printing.

The Music Study Award is a certificate teachers can present students of all levels to motivate them to continue in their musical studies. The elegant certificates recognize years of music study completed in two-year increments up to twelve years of study. These awards are part of a new initiative aimed at the "everyday" or "typical" music student--the student who is a "nonmusical prodigy"--and their teachers. The new "Polyphony" column (See page 74.) is another part of this newly emphasized effort.

"I hope these certificates will inspire students to continue in their musical journey, whether or not they plan to pursue music professionally. We want to celebrate students' successes at all levels, and keep their musical spirit alive for years to come," says MTNA President Dr. R. Wayne Gibson, NCTM.

The certificates are priced at 50 cents apiece and can be ordered by contacting MTNA at (888) 512-5278 or by completing the form on page 85 and sending it to national headquarters.
