Annual dues to increase $1 - Association News - Music Teachers National Association - Brief Article

American Music Teacher,  April-May, 2002

At the winter meeting of the MTNA Board of Directors, the Board voted to increase 2002-2003 active member dues to $50 at the national level.

Board members agreed that regular, small dues increases were preferable to random, larger increases. The last increase was $1 in 2000-2001. Since January 2001, the rate of inflation has averaged 3.054%. A motion to raise dues annually based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rounded to the nearest dollar passed 9-2, but this year's increase was kept to a minimum in light of the current economic climate.
