Casio's Celviano PL-40R is a new eighty-eight-note weighted (hammer action) keyboard that uses the company's "key-lighting" lesson system.
Developed by Casio, Inc., in conjunction with Casio Computer Co., Ltd., in Tokyo, Japan, the PL-40R features 271 different instrument tones and is sixty-four-note polyphonic. In addition to piano sounds, if offers sounds of every instrument of the orchestra as well as percussion, modern synthesizer textures and sound effects.
The PL-40R also has 100 built-in rhythm patterns and the Casio Chord system, enabling keyboardists to play chord progressions without knowing the notes that make up the chords. It also has a seventeen-track song sequencer, a backlit LCD window, mixer function, MIDI in/out jacks, sixteen-channel multi timbral, two headphone jacks plus stereo line out jacks and a two-speaker audio system.
