Alfred appoints new VP, educational development

American Music Teacher, April-May, 2004

Danny Rocks has been appointed vice president, educational development for Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. In this new role, Rocks will deliver presentations to educators on the importance of music advocacy, respect for copyright and professional development.

Rocks joined Alfred twenty years ago as a sales representative who traveled to music stores throughout North America. He advanced to become vice president, sales in 1990.

In 2001, Rocks was elected to the executive committee of the American Music Conference and currently serves as vice president. He also has served on the board of the Retail Print Music Dealer's Association and was honored recently with their President's Choice Award for Leadership.

As vice president of educational development, Rocks also will work with music dealers to train their staff to be more effective marketers and sales leaders, in addition to heading up Alfred's internal professional development program, teaching classes on a wide range of business topics.
