MTNA Collegiate Artist Piano Competition, sponsored by Steinway & Sons
Amir Khosrowpour, originally from Irvine, California, is a junior studying piano performance with Jack Winerock at the University of Kansas. He also takes composition lessons, trying to balance time to write and practice. He is supremely indebted to his current teacher, his former teacher, Scott McBride Smith, and his parents.

Carmelo de los Santos began his violin studies at age 9 with Guido Reinke, later studying with Fredi Gerlings. He graduated from Rio Grande do Sul Federal University, Brazil, and came to America in 1997 to study at the Manhattan School of Music. He is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Georgia. In 1993, Carmelo won Brazil's most prestigious music competition, the "VII Eldorado Prize," Sao Paulo. He also has won other numerous awards.

Kory Bickel, baritone, is a senior vocal performance major studying with Jo Ella Todd at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He won first place in the state and regional competitions (1998, 1999) of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Kory has appeared as baritone soloist in Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Charpentier's Te Deum and Stravinsky's Les Noces and has performed numerous roles with Show-Me Opera. In 2003, he will world premiere the role of John Potts in Corps of Discovery, a new opera commissioned by the University of Missouri.

MTNA Collegiate Artist Woodwind Competition, sponsored by the MTNA FOUNDATION
Michael Ibrahim, 22, graduated with a bachelor of music degree with distinction from the University of Calgary. Studying saxophone with Jeremy Brown, he was awarded the Faculty of Fine Arts Graduation Award for Creative Achievement. He has performed and recorded with the National Youth Band of Canada, Canadian Ceremonial Guard Band, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and Calgary Saxophone Quartet. He is completing graduate studies at Bowling Green State University, studying with John Sampen.

MTNA COLLEGIATE CHAMBER MUSIC PERFORMANCE COMPETITION
Sponsored by the Allen I. McHose Scholarship Fund The Bohica Saxophone Quartet is comprised of four graduate saxophone students studying at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) under the supervision of distinguished research/artist professor John Sampen. Bohica has premiered several works, including the award-winning Orbits by BGSU composition professor Mary King. The quartet also will be featured at the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference in Denton, Texas. Members are Jeffrey Price, James Flowers, Lee Morrison and Michael Ibrahim.
