MTNA High School Performance Competitions
MTNA High School Brass Competition, sponsored by the MTNA FOUNDATION
Jonathan Hill, of Tacoma, Washington, is in the tenth grade at Stadium High School. Jonathan studies tuba with Chris Olka and has participated in several competitions. He was a semi-finalist in the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference and placed first in the Commencement Bay Solo/Ensemble Young Artist Competitions. Jonathan plays in the Stadium High School Concert Band, Tacoma Youth Symphony Orchestra, Principal Tuba and the Seattle Conservatory of Music Brass Quintet.

MTNA High School Piano Competition, sponsored by Yamaha Corporation of America
Sergiy S. Komirenko, of Raleigh, North Carolina, is in the eleventh grade at the American School. He studies piano with John Ruggero. Sergiy has performed in numerous concerts and recitals in Europe and the United States. He also has performed with several orchestras. He has received many competition honors including first prize at the International Steinway-Paris Youth Piano Competition, and a first prize and a special prize at the Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition.

MTNA High School String Competition, sponsored by the MTNA FOUNDATION
Jeffery King, of Piano, Texas, is in the twelfth grade and is home schooled. He studies violin with Jan Mark Sloman. Jeffery soloed with the Plano Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Methodist University Meadows Symphony Orchestra. He served as concert-master of the Monday Night Orchestra and the All-Region Orchestra. Jeffery was the winner of the Hubbard Young Artist Competition and the grand-prize winner of the Collin County Young Artist Competition. He performs with several ensembles.

MTNA High School Voice Competition, sponsored by the MTNA FOUNDATION
Maliea Yakymi, of Portland, Oregon, is in the twelfth grade at Grant High School. She currently studies voice with April Duvic. Maliea has participated in several competitions including the District Solo/Ensemble Contest, where she placed first, and she was the Violet Lang Opera Scholarship winner. Maliea has had the opportunity to participate in the Mary Dibbern Master Class and Dale Moore Master Class. In addition, she was selected to attend both the Oberlin High School Summer Camp and the San Francisco Opera Arts Training Sessions.
