Corpus Christi Piano competition winners

American Music Teacher, June-July, 2004

The Corpus Christi International Competition for Piano 2004 winners recently were announced. The first-place Mary Hope Brennecke Award of $5,000 was given to Anna Polusmiak from Northern Kentucky, whose teacher is Sergei Polusmiak.

The second-place winner (Morris L. Lichtenstein, Jr. Award) and third-place winner were Alexander Seredenko, from Richmond Hills, Ontario, Canada, who received $2,500 and whose teacher is Valerie Tryon, and Gabriela Martinez, from The Juilliard School, who received $1,000 and whose teacher is Yoheved Kaplinsky, respectively.

The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place winners, who each received $500, were Di Wu from The Curtis Institute, who studies with Gary Graffman; Daria Rabotkina from Mannes College of Music, whose teacher is Vladimir Fehsman; and Mana Tokuna from Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, who studies with Victor Rosenbaum, respectively. Also, receiving the Leo Sirota Memorial Piano Solo Award were Tokuna and Alexander Seredenko.
