Area definitions are based on Office of Management
and Budget Bulletin No. 04-03, dated February 18, 2004, and are
available at http://www.bls.gov/lau/lausmsa.htm and in the May
issue of Employment and Earnings. Areas in the six New England
states are Metropolitan New England City and Town Areas (NECTAs),
while areas in other states are county-based. Some metropolitan
areas lie in two or more states. They are listed under the state
that appears first in their titles. Some divisions lie in more
than one state, and some, like Camden, N.J., are totally outside
the states under which their metropolitan areas are listed.
