Federal-Mogul Corp. says it will invest $50 million in its Champion spark plug and windshield wiper businesses in Europe instead of selling the company. Federal-Mogul will invest the money during the next five years to update European factories and find better ways to manufacture the steel and ceramic materials used in spark plugs.
The Champion business was worth about $200 million in sales last year.
