Your "Materials Odyssey 2001" feature in the October issue was very thought provoking, particularly the paragraph about Audi's use of magnesium for an exhaust manifold. It provoked the thought, "'No way!"
Pontiac used aluminum for drag race exhaust manifolds in the 1960s (cautioning against the use of full throttle for more than 15 seconds at a time), but not even Audi can pull this one off!

Editor Lindsay Brooke replies: You're correct, Bill. Our mistake. Audi's 'magnesium manifold is on the intake side, not the exhaust.
