SAO PAULO -- An unstable economy coupled with high interest rates and a weak currency once again push down car production in Brazil. Total vehicle production touched 127,912 units in October compared to 137,263 in September. Production in South America's largest country hit its 2001 peak in May when some 195,000 units were built.
