ArvinMeritor to close Tennessee facility

ArvinMeritor will close its Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) Apertures facility in Gordonsville, Tenn., by August 2003. According to the company, the closure is the result of overcapacity in the North American passenger car supplier market and part of the company's efforts to maintain its leadership position in a highly competitive industry and cut costs.

The Gordonsville facility produces window regulators and sunroof systems. Operations based in Gordonsville will be transferred to ArvinMentor locations in Detroit, Marion, S.C., Franklin, Ind. And Queretaro, Mexico.
