Every August executives from automakers and auto suppliers migrate to Traverse City, Mich., for a week of management briefings sponsored by the University of Michigan's Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation and its head, David Cole. This year's conference runs Aug. 7-12 with a speaker lineup that includes General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner and Daimler-Chrysler President Jim Holden.
