How high can Mercedes push C-Class sales before the exclusivity begins to wear off? Halata doesn't believe the automaker has gotten anywhere near that point.

"We still see opportunities in the North America market," he says. "We've had good growth because of our product offensive over the past seven years. Now that it is complete, we want to look at the niches within niches."
