Continental Teves Smarts Off

Automotive Industries,  August, 1999

Want to know what the road's like? Ask a smart tire.

Continental Teves' "intelligent" tire will be on vehicles in two years, company officials say. The tire, which debuted at last year's Frankfurt auto show, has sensors in the sidewalls that send information on road conditions directly to the on-board electronic chassis management systems. That provides the link between the road and the antilock brake, traction control and electronic stability systems.
