Drawing on nearly a century of experience as a components supplier, we engineer solutions that streamline components, cut design and development time, and increase speed to market. And with advanced technologies that integrate added value into every system we design, Dana is scaling the next level of progress with Integration Technology.
Success to us means the total integration of automotive products, systems, and services for a seamless enterprise. No one else has the resources to innovate and combine all of these capabilities into superior Integration Technology -- and then bring them to customers around the globe through a single point of contact. Leveraging our expertise in modular design and strategic collaborations, we deliver new solutions that continually raise the bar for quality assurance, service, environmental safety, and complete customer satisfaction.
Systems Integration: Rolling Spaceframe[percent thousand] Module
The Rolling Spaceframe[percent thousand] module -- our latest breakthrough in structural modularity and chassis engineering -- is actually a series of three complementary modules. Body and chassis systems are integrated to create a skeletal system that supports the interior systems as well as exterior skin and drivetrain components of a vehicle. Comprising a spaceframe, chassis, and drivetrain module, the Rolling Spaceframe is an integrated package or individual system. Providing increased design flexibility, weight savings to drive down CO2 levels, an improved vehicle handling and driving dynamics, it will also enhance OEM speed to market at less cost.
Process Integration: Flexible Architecture
Our proprietary hydroforming and magnetic-pulse welding technologies allow for enhanced structural rigidity, reduced weight, and improved crashworthiness. Magnetic-pulse welding involves welding similar and dissimilar metals, as well as joining metals and composites, through a fast, efficient, cold-weld process. By enabling vehicular chassis structures and drivelines to be designed and produced with different material combinations, this process can solve weight, strength, durability, and NVH issues in a cost-efficient manner.
Customer Process Integration: The GM Holden Commodore
We helped Holden Limited, an Australian subsidiary of GM, increase speed to market for its Commodore passenger car. In addition to supplying the independent rear suspension module and front corner modules, we utilized our LeanERP[percent thousand] software. This software receives a customer broadcast and automates scheduling, operator instructions, parts verification, traceability, and final sequencing -- all within a 90-minute window. The result of our collaboration? The seamless management of 180 components and 47 suppliers -- and the production of half a million vehicles.
At Dana, our expertise in Total Process Development fuels our commitment to a seamless enterprise. Look to Dana's Automotive Systems Group for your next integrated solution today. Call 419-482-1650.
