Bright ideas

Automotive Industries,  Sept, 2003

As the '04 vehicles roll into dealerships one thing is clear--next year's new technology is a mixed bag of tricks.

From safety to engines to the way doors open, suppliers and automakers are outfitting cars, trucks, SUVs and crossovers with the most high tech features ever.

This year telematics continues its push into the market with more and more features and further and further away from just concierge services. It also is moving down market with the addition of more systems on volume segment vehicles.

Look also for safety advances that do more to warn the driven regarding upcoming danger on the road and in their vehicle.

Then there's storage. As people spend more and more time in their vehicles automakers are finding lots of space to store things and lots of ways to do it.
