With so much churn in the industry--as magazine professionals move within traditional media and jump to the Net--getting a pink slip isn't what it used to be. It didn't take long for former Fitness editor Sarah Mahoney to land safely at Ladies' Home Journal. She'll be number-two to editor in chief Myrna Blyth.

Mahoney--along with YM editor in chief Diane Salvatore--was ousted by Gruner Jahr CEO Daniel Brewster in early July, less than a month after Brewster took over the corporate reins following a run as president/CEO of American Express Publishing. Emily Lisifield, a former executive editor with McCall's, was tapped to replace Mahoney at Fitness, while Annemarie Iverson took charge at YM.
