Why Marc Teren Matters

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, Sept, 2000 by Mary Harvey

A: It opened up a communication path. I trade a lot of e-mails on a regular basis. I believe I've proven to be very, very accessible. I've listened to our managers as they've talked about the issues that face them. That said, I have a lot more to do. This is a big company--5,000 employees--and it's hard to touch all of the aspects of our organizations.

I've found that we have a group of people who want to be part of a winning team, no doubt recognizing that they've gone through a lot of change and transformation and wondering whether that has settled. I think we were able to provide confidence that they have a management team that listens, cares, is responsive and has their best interests in mind.
