Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, Nov 1, 2002

After Manhattan's Fashion Week came and went, the editors who remained in town - meaning those who didn't jet off to Europe's fall fashion extravaganzas - needed a new source of entertainment.

Taking this as a cue, Entertainment Weekly threw parties on back-to-back nights - one public, to mark its annual celebrity photo issue, and the other private, to say goodbye to departing managing editor Jim Seymore.

The New Yorker leaped into post-Fashion celebrations with its third annual festival, a magnet for the thinking man's celebrities - like Martin Scorsese and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

And for those who pretend to have time to read, fall is book party season. Friends of Wired and Gotham, among others, landed invites to the soirees of those magazines' favorite authors. Just be sure to save some strength for the year-end holiday parties only weeks away.
