Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, Nov 1, 2002

Lately, magazineland has witnessed a baby boom. At Real Simple, eight staffers are either pregnant or brand-new moms. At Glamour, 14 are brand-new moms or have announced their pregnancies since January. Here's a partial rundown on some of the pint-sized-potential editors.

Baby: Michael Launched: September 13, 2002 Weighing in at: 6 pounds, 8 ounces Parent: Roberta Myers, editor, Elle

Baby: Wyland Launched: January 16, 2002 Weighing in at: 7 pounds, 6 ounces Parent: Jean Godfrey June, beauty director, Lucky

Babies: Oliver and Gus Launched: September 28, 2002 Weighing in at: 6 pounds, 2 ounces (Oliver) an 6 pounds, 13 ounces (Gus) Parents: Sasha Charnin Morrison, fashion editor, Allure

Baby: Julia Launched: September 16, 2002 Weighing in at: 8 pounds, 15.5 ounces Parent: James Kaminsky, editorial director, Playboy

Baby: Ingrid Launched: June 14, 2002 Weighing in at: 8 pounds, 8 ounces Parent: Amy Astley, editor, Teen Vogue

ADVERTISING & SALES

Casie Lyn Schlereth to Southern California sales director, Spin, from Southwest sales manager for Ziff Davis Media.

Allure announced the following appointments: Wendi Cassuto to advertising manager, Gina Faucetta to luxury brand manager. Cassuto was director of advertising agency relations for AOL. Faucetta is the former fashion director of Shape.

Kelly Gohman to advertising sales manager, North American Fisherman, from account executive.

Neil Dant to West Coast sales manager, Primedia's National Real Estate Investor and Shopping Center World magazines. Most recently, he was an account executive for Golf Digest Companies.

Tennis magazine announced the following promotions: Michele Folman to Eastern manager from account executive; Randy Lauwasser to travel manager from marketplace manager; and Barbara Brown to marketplace manager from sales coordinator.

Teen Vogue named Jason Schneider and Ellen Sullivan to the West Coast sales staff. Schneider was named Los Angeles manager, from vice president of sales for Bolt Inc. Sullivan was named San Francisco manager, from Northwest sales manager at Business 2.0.

CORPORATE

Andy Sareyan to president of Entertainment Weekly, from president of The Parenting Group.

Walter Manninen to president of IDG's CXO Media, from executive vice president of operations.

Jeff Paro to senior vice president and group publishing director, Primedia's Outdoor Recreation Group. Previously, he was senior vice president and group publisher at Time4 Media.

ESPN Inc. announced the following promotions: Mark Shapiro to executive vice president, programming and production, from senior vice president and general manager, programming; and John Skipper to executive vice president, ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, from senior vice president and general manager overseeing those two business units.

James P. Docherty to vice president and national advertising director, Robb Report. Most recently, he was president of new media for Hachette Filipacchi Magazines.

Sara Levinson to the newly created position of president, Women's Publishing Group, for Rodale Inc. Levinson is former president of NFL Properties and president of business operations for MTV: Music Television. Most recently she became chairman of ClubMom Inc., a position she will retain.

Cameron Bishop, to president and CEO of the newly formed Ascend Media. Bishop is the former president and CEO of Primedia's Intertec Publishing Corp. Ascend was formed in partnership with Dan Altman, vice president and CFO. Previously, Altman was executive vice president and CFO for Intertec.

Rick Tetzeli to managing editor of Entertainment Weekly, from deputy managing editor, Fortune.

Thomas A. Stewart to editor, The Harvard Business Review. Most recently, he was editorial director of Business 2.0.

Tamara Glenny to executive editor, YM, from deputy editor, Seventeen.

Ann Omvig Maine to editor-in-chief, Traditional Home, from acting editor since July, and editor-in-chief for Renovation Style.

Ann Louise Tuke to managing editor, Sport Diver, from marketing director for Caradonna Caribbean Tours.

Chandra Czape to deputy articles editor, Ladies' Home Journal, from deputy articles editor, Cosmopolitan.

Kathleen Kayse to publisher, People, from publisher of Money.

Michael Dukmejian to publisher, Money, from publisher of the recently folded Mutual Funds magazine.

Jeff Christian to associate publisher, Primedia's American Baby Group, from group advertising director.

Dorene Barile to director of marketing innovation, Meredith Publishing Group, from senior account manager for Ladies' Home Journal.
