Challenging All Those Fat Signing Bonuses

I read with great interest your story on rising personnel price tags in the publishing industry (Folio:, July 15, 2000, page 20). We've been in the executive search business for publishing for the past 17 years, and I would challenge the price tag quoted for consumer group publishers. The base of $400k is relatively fair, but the $300k signing bonus is out of this universe.
