ADVERTISING & SALES

Worth magazine announced the following: Douglas Dauray was promoted to national advertising director, and the company named Alison de Groot to marketing director, Brian Knowles to account manager, and Susan Jacobs to account executive. Dauray was account manager for the luxury automotive and financial categories. De Groot was Eastern territory manager, Rodale Inc.'s Backpacker magazine. Knowles was New England advertising manager for Registered Rep. and Trusts & Estates magazines. Jacobs was advertising manager for Newsweek.

Noreen Murray to national advertising director, Jungle Media, from director of sales development.

Biography Magazine named Scott Monte to Eastern advertising director. Most recently, he was advertising director for Organic Style and Organic Gardening magazines.

Jennifer Palmer was named New England account manager for Outside magazine. She was New England sales manager for Men's Journal and Rolling Stone magazines.

Deborah Steiner has joined Bridal Guide magazine as travel advertising manager. She was advertising manager at Garden Design and Saveur magazines.

Pat Slattery was promoted to travel category manager, AARP Publications. She was a senior sales representative.

Kathy Gorup to account manager, Sunset magazine. Most recently, Gorup managed financial accounts at Fortune.

Susan DeVira to account manager, Sunset magazine. She returns to the industry after a three-year hiatus. Previously, she had been with Southern Living magazine.

CORPORATE

Richard J. O'Rorke to chief financial officer for Magazine Publishers of America. Most recently he was president of R.J. O'Rorke & Company, his financial, accounting and taxation firm.

George Hirsch, worldwide publisher of Rodale Inc.'s Runner's World, announced he will be leaving his position to step into the new role of worldwide publisher emeritus, continuing to work closely with the Runner's World brand. Publisher Claudia Malley will now have direct line responsibility for the magazine.

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) announced the retirement of Lee Cassidy, executive director of The DMA Nonprofit Federation. He served for nine years as executive director of the National Federation of Nonprofits, which merged with The DMA's Nonprofit Council in July 2000 to form The DMA Nonprofit Federation.

EDITORIAL & ART

Scott Gramling to editor in chief of FHM magazine. Gramling most recently served as deputy editor.

Susan Toepfer to editor, Rosie magazine, from deputy managing editor of Time Inc.'s People.

Mark Mayfield to editor in chief of House Beautiful. He was editor of Meredith's Traditional Home magazine.

Upside magazine named Lester Craft to editor in chief, responsible for the editorial direction and design of the publication. He comes to Upside from Line56 magazine, where he was editor in chief.

Robert Buderi to editor, Technology Review, from editor at large.

Ann Omvig Maine to interim editor in chief of Meredith's Traditional Home magazine. Maine was editor in chief of Meredith's Renovation Style.

Clara Jeffery to the newly created position of deputy editor of Mother Jones magazine. Previously, she was senior editor of Harper's magazine.

Budget Living magazine has named Marshall Loeb chairman of its editorial board of advisors. Loeb was most recently editor of Columbia Journalism Review. He will continue to write his personal finance column "Your Dollars," for CBS MarketWatch.

Heather Kahn has joined The Parenting Group as contributing editor to Parenting magazine and a national correspondent for Parenting TV and Parenting.com. Kahn was a news anchor for Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB and most recently served as host of the nationally televised parenting show "American Baby."

MANAGEMENT

David Fine to associate publisher of Jungle Media Group's MBA Jungle and JD Jungle. Most recently, he was Eastern advertising director at Gruner + Jahr's Fast Company.

Thomas Huber to associate publisher, Smithsonian magazine. Previously, Huber was Harvard Business Review's worldwide advertising manager.

Bill Hershman to associate publisher/director of advertising for Firehouse Magazine, from director of advertising/East Coast sales manager.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Nicole A. Kaplan to vice president, marketing & promotion for the Magazine Publishers of America. She has been a consultant to Fathom Communications (a division of DDB) since January.

Salvatore DeMicco to marketing research analyst for Rodale's Organic Living Group. DeMicco most recently served as Smartmoney.com's marketing research manager.

NEW MEDIA

Karen Brodsky to account manager for Forbes.com. She joins the company from Ziff Davis Media where she was an account manager for Yahoo! Internet Life.
