The Hotel Utah

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, March 1, 2003 by Geoff Van Dyke

Byline: Geoff Van Dyke

500 Fourth Street San Francisco

South of San Francisco's famous Market Street, not far from the cozy confines of Pac Bell Park - and, notably, only a stroll's length from Wired's offices - there's an old saloon called The Hotel Utah that has been quenching San Fran's thirstiest since 1908. "It's a fun place to go," says Mark Robinson, a senior editor at Wired, who often joins his staff mates at the Utah. "It's divey - they have made a few half-hearted attempts at culinary upgrades - but you're going to be safe with greasy fries there. And they do make a great black-and-tan."
