Cahners Taps Web Savvy CEO
Former Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive CEO Marc Teren was appointed CEO for Cahners Business Information, effective February 1. Teren succeeds Brian Nairn, who had been the interim CEO since the September resignation of president and CEO Bruce Barnet. Nairn returned to his previous post of COO, reporting to Teren.
During his tenure at The Washington Post Company, Teren led the company's initiatives and strategic investments in new media and electronic publishing. While publisher of washingtonpost.com and newsweek.com, the Internet sites for The Washington Post and Newsweek, he was responsible for the creation of new products and services, and the development of an award-winning Internet team. Additionally, he was a driving force behind the company's alliance with MSNBC and NBC News.

Previously, Teren was with The Walt Disney Company, where he had general management responsibilities for Disney Interactive. In that role, he was involved with the development of Disney's new media strategy and the creation of Disney Interactive.
