Playboy.com names new CEO
Kevin Mayer has been appointed CEO of Playboy.com Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Playboy Enterprises Inc. He will also serve as a director on the company's board of directors. Mayer will be responsible for developing Playboy.com into a successful global electronic enterprise, with the immediate goal of leading the company through its planned IPO.
Mayer joins the company from Buena Vista Internet Group, where he most recently served as executive vice president and general manager of the GO Network Portal, overseeing all of the GO Network's operations. Previously, he served as an executive vice president for the business, where he oversaw ESPN's and ABC's portfolio of sites, including ESPN.com, ABCNews.com and ABC.com. Mayer joined Buena Vista from the Walt Disney Company, where he served as senior vice president of strategic planning.

Mayer holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University. He also earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He will be based in Playboy's New York office.
