Playboy Enterprises has appointed Diane Silberstein publisher of Playboy magazine and vice president of the publishing group. Silberstein had recently joined the company as associate publisher/advertising manager. She replaces James Dimonekas, who had been publisher since 2001.
Joan Sheridan LaBarge was named publisher of G J USA's YM. LaBarge, the former publisher of the defunct Rosie magazine, succeeds Laura McEwen.
Susan Baron becomes publisher of Meredith Corporation's American Baby Group. Baron had been managing director at Meredith's Integrated Marketing Group.

Elizabeth Sheppard was named associate publisher for the custom publishing unit of Hearst Magazines. Most recently, she was senior vice president of marketing and communications for the Girl Scouts.
Scott Dattoli has been promoted to publisher of Securities Industry News, a Thomson Media publication. He had been the associate publisher.
The National Geographic Society has named Francis X. Farrell publisher of National Geographic Adventure. He had been general manager, senior vice president, and publisher of The Sporting News. Also at the Society, Rainer Jenss has been promoted from associate publisher to publisher of National Geographic Kids.
Sally Preston has been promoted to associate publisher of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, from advertising director.
Penton Media has tapped Newton Barrett as publisher of Logistics Today. Barrett, who will oversee the magazine's launch, previously served as publisher of PC Tech Journal and Open Systems Today. Penton Industry Media, a division of Penton Media, has announced several promotions. John DiPaola has been named vice president and group publisher, with operating responsibility for a new group comprising Government Product News, Government PROcurement, Expansion Management, Occupational Hazards, New Equipment Digest (NED), and the related online media businesses of these magazines. DiPaola had been group publisher of NED and Occupational Hazards. Joseph Fristik was named group publisher of the Mechanical Systems/Construction Group; he had been group publisher of the Manufacturing and Metals Groups. Jerry Rymont, regional sales manager for the Manufacturing Group, has been promoted to publisher of the group's titles, which include American Machinist, Welding Design & Fabrication, and Gases & Welding Distributor. Mike Ference, regional sales manager for the Motion System Group, becomes its advertising director; among this group's magazines are Motion System Design, Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Motion System Distributor, and Motion System Integrator.
Peter King Hunsinger, president of the Conde Nast Bridal Group, has been named publisher of Conde Nast's GQ magazine. He replaces Ron Galotti, who resigned from the company.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Jason Lundy was named executive marketing director at Harper's Bazaar. He had been executive director of marketing and strategic planning at Esquire.
Hachette Filipacchi Media announced that Joanne LoPinto has been named marketing director of Metropolitan Home and Home magazines. LoPinto was previously vice president of marketing of Time Inc.'s Parenting Group.
