… And on the shopping front - Time Inc.'s acquisition of Smart-Demo

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, August 1, 1993

Time Inc. has moved further into the realm of in-store media with its recent acquisition of the assets of SMART-DEMO, the couponing, sampling and merchandising division of Market Growth Resources in Wilton, Connecticut. Last year, Time Inc. purchased MediaOne, one of the nation's largest in-store advertising companies.

(See "Time Inc. sees great synergy with MediaOne," FOLIO:, July 1992, page 27.) The plan now is to operate the two under the umbrella of Time Inc. In-Store Marketing, a new unit of Time Inc. Ventures. "Now we are in the position of being able to offer packaged-goods clients a full complement of media and promotional services," says Time Inc. chairman and CEO Reg Brack.
