Advanstar's executive shuffle

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, August 1, 1993

Ed Aster has been on the job less than seven months as president of Cleveland-based Advanstar Communications, but he already seems to be setting the company on its ear as new executives come and others go. Among the latest to hit the revolving door was Robert Brawn, the ex-Cahners executive who was eased out when Cahners' medical titles were merged with Elsevier's.

Sources say Brawn was supposed to be a new executive vice president of sales, but was gone in a week after attending one Advanstar sales meeting. Among the most recent appointments: Jane Edelstein, the former Gralla exec who was expected to stay with the Sportscape Group under new owners Cardinal Business Media, has instead jumped to Advanstar as vice president/editorial director. In turn, Cardinal CEO and former Gralla head Robert Boucher has raided Advanstar to recruit Thomas Morgan, publisher of Automatic ID News, as the new group publisher at Sportscape, which is relocating headquarters from Framingham, Massachusetts to Horsham, Pennsylvania.
