Electric utilities group gets revenue surge - advertising revenue for electric utilities trade journals - Brief Article - Illustration

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, Sept 1, 1994

April's big Chicago IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) conference was a welcome sight for the three-title electric utilities category. The show, held once every 30 months, helped boost revenues by 28 percent through May, to $3.06 million from $2.a4 million the previous year.

Pages and revenues had been flat because of a wait-and-see posture on the part of utilities anticipating deregulation and the competition it would inspire, says Margaret Shake, national sales manager for PennWell Publishing's Electrical Light & Power. "Companies are cautious about expenditures until such issues as transmission access and wheeling' [transmission across lines owned by different utilities] are settled."
