Jane Pratt and her eponymous start-up have landed at Fairchild Publications. Jane was originally conceived under the auspices of Time Inc. And Pratt, the founding editor of Sassy, was reportedly taking with several other publishers before joining Fairchild, the New York City-based publisher of W, Women's Wear Daily and 14 trade titles on the fashion, beauty and home-furnishings industries.

"We have been looking for the last two or three years [for a title like this]," says Fairchild president Michael Coady. Pratt says one of the appeals of Fairchild is its "link with Disney and ABC in terms of television coverage and tie-ins." Jane is set to launch next September with a press-run of 700,000. A 10-time frequency is planned for 1988.
