Revenues pile up for waste management titles - magazine publishing, advertising revenue for January-September 1994 - Brief Article

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, Dec 15, 1994 by Rolf Maurer

The seven-title waste management category enjoyed a 7 percent revenue jump through September, to $4.9 million from $4.6 million for the same period last year. "The regulatory environment in which our readers operate is becoming more demanding," notes Daniel Waldman, publisher of Forester Communications' MSW Management (up 7 percent). However, overblown expectations about recycling have been a problem for some books. Argus Business' World Wastes was down 20 percent. "Initially, the assumption was that recycling could pay for itself," says editor and publisher William Wolpin. "But it turns out that the country's markets are not ready for the influx of recyclables."
