Cardinal buys Non-Foods Merchandising - Cardinal Business Media Inc - Brief Article

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, March 1, 1994

Horsham, Pennsylvania-based Cardinal Business Media acquired Non-Foods Merchandising from Network Publishing Corp., a one-title company based in New York City. The 20,000-circulation title is well traveled, starting with the old Charleson Publishing, which was acquired by U.S. Business Press. In 1986, Thomson Corp.

bought it, but in a sudden about-face, the Canadian-based media giant sold its International Thomson Retail Press Holdings in 1989. As part of that divestiture, publisher Jordan Rosenstrach took over the magazine as an independent with backing from his investor partner, Joseph Corrigaru. As part of the latest deal, Rosenstrach remains with the title, as do all seven staffers. According to Cardinal CEO Robert Boucher, the company should complete two more deals "within the next 60 days." Total sales last year for Non-Foods Merchandising were estimated between $2.5 million and $3 million.
