Mike Edelhart has been appointed vice president of the Ziff-Davis Consumer Media Group, a new division of Ziff-Davis Publishing. In this position, Edelhart will be responsible for the content and direction of all the division's properties, including Computer Gaming World, Ziff-Davis Press, Ziff-Davis's Personal Computing, as well as FamilyPC, a new consumer magazine that will be co-published with Disney Magazine Publishing, Inc., and is set to launch later this year.

Serving as vice president in charge of the Centralized Operations Group for Ziff-Davis Publishing since 1992, Edelhart oversaw the editorial activities of the group's Z-D Labs and Central Editorial Services, as well as the marketing activities of the Ziff-Davis Magazine Networks and Central Ad Sales divisions. He began his career at the company as executive editor of PC Magazine.

Prior to joining Ziff-Davis, Edelhart was senior editor at Enter, Children's Television Workshop's short-lived computer magazine for teens, following a three-year stint at Omni.

Edelhart earned a B.S. in journalism from the University of Northern Colorado and is the author of numerous books on computing and science. He also serves as an advisory board member for computer trade expositions, including Comdex and PC Expo.
