As vice president, corporate communications for CMP Publications, Barbara Kerbel will be responsible for the company's corporate branding strategy, press relations and communications in the form of advertising, newsletters and CMP's trade show presence.

Kerbel was director of CMP's corporate communications department, which she formed in 1992, and served as marketing manager for CMP's Communications Week starting in 1989 after a stint as senior editor there beginning in 1983. In between, she spent five years as copy chief at A.B.A. Industries, Inc., a marketing communications firm.

She holds a B.A. from the State University of New York, Cortland, and an M.A. from Queens College, The City University of New York, in English literature. Her syndicated column, "Woman Working," appears in Newsday, The Houston Chronicle and The Arizona Republic.

Paul Kelly to creative director for advertising sales art and promotion, Newsweek, from creative director of marketing communications, Times Mirror Magazines. Jim Docherty to vice president, Family Life; he retains the title of national ad director.
