CMP vets to launch Interactive Week - three former CMP Publications Inc. executives to launch new periodical in partnership with Ziff Communications Inc. Ziff-Davis Publishing

Folio: The Magazine for Magazine Management, May 15, 1994

Three former CMP executives have hooked up with Ziff-Davis Publishing to launch Interactive Week this October. The glossy, tabloid-size newspaper, which will cover the convergence of the telecommunications, computer, cable and other digital technology markets, will be sent to a controlled circulation of 60,000 top executives at companies hoping to stake a claim on the information superhighway.

"If companies are going to position their products with service providers, the time is now," says Jack Dolce, president of the newly formed InterActive Enterprises and a 15-year veteran of CMP, where he helped start such titles as Communications Week and Network Computing.

Interactive Week will publish monthly until the end of the year, and move to a biweekly frequency in 1995, when an online service on Ziff-Davis Interchange is expected to make its debut. Although Ziff is supplying most of the funding for the venture, Dolce and his two colleagues--senior vice president and editorial director Al Perlman and publishing director Beth Haggerty--will exercise day-to-day control from offices in Garden City, Long Island.
