Editorial and design awards you can win

This directory of more than 60 awards contests for magazines and their staffs is structured by category according to type of award: General and editorial excellence; Business/association/corporate magazines; Photo and design; International; Regional; Special interest/topical; and General business coverage.

We recommend that, before entering a contest, you write for a brochure or contact the sponsor three to six months before the contest deadline. Your entry could be disqualified if you do not follow the rules for submission, which are not included in this directory.

Deadlines and fees are current as of Oct. 1986.

The eligibility column for each chart indicates the person(s) responsible for endorsing the entry. It does not necessarily indicate who receives the prize:

J=Professional journalists, staff writers;

C=Contributors, freelancers; P=Publisher;

E=Editor in chief; A=Any or all the above;

M=Members only.
