The Doubletree Hotel at Warren Place in Tulsa, Okla., was recognized by the American Hotel & Lodging Assn. with a national Stars of the Industry Award. The award acknowledges individual properties that achieve excellence in select industry categories. From left are Dieter H. Pedro Mandoki, president and c.e.o. of Plantation Resort Management, was honored as the recipient of the 2001 Distinguished Service Award presented by the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bonifico Alip, who works at the Kona Coast Resort in Hawaii, won the Security Officer of the Year award from the Hawaii Hotel Assn.
HRC Properties and Good Hospitality Services were named developers of the year by Hilton Hotels Corp.'s Hampton brand.
The Lodging Association of the Florida Keys & Key West named Pier House Resort and Caribbean Spa in Key West the lodging property of the year. Microtel Inns & Suites, a brand of US Franchise Systems, named the Microtel Inn & Suites in El Paso, Texas, the hotel of the year; and named Bhoopendar and Jett Mehta of Indus Hospitality its franchisees of the year; Jill Lytle of the Microtel in Manistee, Mich., general manager of the year; and the staff of the Microtel in Overland Park, Kan., was awarded the Guest Services Hero award.
Crestline Hotels & Resorts presented the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth, Va., with the Meeting Planner Survey Achievement Award.
The Holiday Inn-Omaha-Central was awarded the Lodging Award of the Year by the Nebraska Restaurant Assn.
Don and Kathie Johnson, the husband and wife management team at Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in Nevis, were presented with the 2002 Hotelier of the Year award at the St. Kitts and Nevis Hotel and Tourism Assn. Pelican Tourism awards reception.
The Navy Lodge Program's 2001 Navy Lodge manager of the year is Maritess Sagon, manager of the Navy Lodge in Monterey, Calif.
The American Association of Franchisees & Dealers selected Accor Lodging North America as the AAFD franchisor of the year.
The Quality Suites Toronto Airport was recognized by the Canadian Professional Sales Assn. as the best midscale property for 2001.
