Keeping a hotel furnished with the latest technology can often be a costly and daunting task. Yet, Philips Consumer Electronics, the largest worldwide provider of television display solutions for the hotel industry, offers innovative and cost-effective solutions. Providing televisions in more than 1.3 million hotel rooms within the United States, Philips has a proven track record and is the brand of choice for many hoteliers.
"Our vision is to continue to be the leader in providing display solutions in the hotel industry throughout the upcoming transition from analog to digital and to make this transition a seamless and enjoyable experience for our customers and their guests," said Gregg Chason, general manager, Institutional Television, Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. "By listening to our customers, we are able to translate their requirements into a variety of aesthetically pleasing and fully functional in-room display devices."
Philips' leadership in delivering new display technologies is evident with the introduction of the new Mirror TV. "The viewing experience will wow customers and hoteliers alike. Hoteliers are already impressed with the convergence of aesthetics and function inherent in these TVs, in addition to the cost savings," says Mike Brooks, vice president of product strategy/planning, Philips Institutional Television.
The Mirror TV allows hotels to provide guests with a luxurious experience, escaping the traditional space constraints of a room or lobby with its two-in-one applications. Through Philips' innovative technology, hoteliers maximize space by eliminating either a stand-alone mirror or a traditional TV, and the design hides the electronics to ensure a sleek display. Customizable to complement any hotel design, Philips Mirror TV is versatile and has a variety of application areas including hallways, guestrooms and desktop/workstations.
Philips' plasma solution allows for similar connectivity with integrated features such S-video, composite video, SmartPlug[TM] in/out, as well as a SmartCard slot, which can be used for pay-per-view/new application cards for added functionality. For additional viewing entertainment, the audio/video-enhancing technologies include Digital Natural Motion[TM], Active Control[TM] and Crystal Clear[TM], as well as a fully integrated 30-watt audio speaker system. These technologies ensure that hotel guests will see and hear the best picture possible.
Philips RealFlat TVs, in turn, allow guests to view distortion-free pictures from virtually any angle. As viewers approach the sides of the RealFlat televisions, there is no screen bulge or distortion typically created from a rounded picture tube--resulting in life-like images and clear, sharp text visible from anywhere in the room. Providing hotels with a myriad of placement options, this TV model also utilizes Philips' SmartPlugTM system to easily integrate pay-per-view software.
"Our broad range of digital display technologies and design allows the hotelier to delight, and exceed, the in-room experience expectations of their guests. In addition, we can provide the hotelier with a breadth of display options to allow them to be on the forefront of leading technology while supporting their various brand initiatives," said Chason.
Philips' desire is to serve hotels and their guests through progressive innovation and market leadership. To this end, the company invests a great deal into research and development, particularly in television technology. In the meantime, hoteliers and travelers continue to benefit from Philips' unique innovations and stylish television design.
Known globally for innovative technology and design, Philips Consumer Electronics is the third-largest consumer electronics company in the world and is a global leader in color television sets, lighting, electric shavers, color picture tubes for televisions and monitors, and one-chip TV products.
