Vice president of sales and marketing, Maywood Furniture Ken Persson

Hotel & Motel Management, Nov 1, 2004

Ken Persson knows his way around the courts--tennis and platform tennis courts that is--and tables, but more than just card tables. A New Jersey state tennis champion and winner of national platform tennis titles, and a Life-Master in Bridge, Ken notes that these interests share common themes in his professional life--being consistent, being durable, being exacting in understanding the competition, and knowing what works in all kinds of circumstances and situations.

And as Maywood Furniture's VP of Sales and Marketing, Ken really knows tables. With more than 20 years of experience marketing Maywood's superbly crafted folding and stationary table products, Ken has an instinct for what works for his many customers. "For example, there are customers who clearly want an edging that won't work for their type of establishment, and when this is explained, they always thank us for not making an ordering mistake. After all of this time at Maywood Furniture, there are certain situations that dictate that I review an order in detail and we get back to the customer to make sure they are satisfied. This personal service is something we feel very strongly about at Maywood."

Maywood Furniture has long roots in the hospitality industry. Its parent company DeSaussure Equipment began manufacturing the square-legged folding banquet table that became known as the Howe[R] 200 Series in 1930 and has been selling this product as the Maywood Original Series[TM] since 2000. In fact, almost 75 years later, this family-run business is still chaired by a DeSaussure.

Ken is proud of his association with Maywood Furniture, and like his efforts on the tennis and platform tennis court, and at the Bridge table, he insists on consistent quality, pursues accuracy in the details of execution, constantly reviews the competition to stay one step ahead, and knows what needs to be done to finalize a winning effort. If you are looking for tables, call Ken at Maywood Furniture, 800-238-6797. He'll gladly 'serve' you.
