* Bruce Wardinski, president and c.e.o. of Barcelo Crestline, said his company will acquire John Q. Hammons Hotels despite the fact that a special committee reported to the JQH board that Barcelo Crestline's offer of $13 per share was too low. At the end of December, JQH Hotels and principal stockholder John Q.

Hammons agreed to negotiate exclusively with Barcelo Crestline through Jan. 31 after the company increased its offer to $21 per share. Scott Tarwater, senior v.p. of sales and marketing for JQH Hotels, said more than one entity is interested in buying the company.
