Choice Hotels' singular vision: franchisee profitability

According to Burgett, four Clarion Collection hotels are open and operating, and six have recently signed contracts to join the system. Open Clarion Collection hotels include:

* The Claridge Hotel in Miami Beach, a 1929 architectural landmark with a Mediterranean villa appeal;

* The Wildwood Lodge in Lake Elmo, Minn., a themed hotel that incorporates natural elements from the surrounding Minnesota wilderness into its decor;

* The O'Brien Historic Hotel in downtown San Antonio, a classical architectural landmark;

* The Victorian Charm Inn, a charming bed and breakfast located in the heart of Canyon Country in Kanab, Utah.

Clarion Collection hotels opening in the next several months include:

* The Andrew in Great Neck, N.Y., Long Island's first designer hotel featuring a "hip" modern interior;

* The Hotel Bothwell in Sedalia, Mo., built in 1927 and preserving its historical charm as part of a complete renovation in 1999;

* The Royal Saint Charles Hotel, a contemporary boutique hotel located one block from the French Quarter in New Orleans;

* The Garden District Hotel, featuring spacious, "themed" guest rooms in the heart of New Orleans' garden district;

* The Queen & Crescent Hotel, also in New Orleans and historically significant as the headquarters of the Queen & Crescent Railroad nearly a century ago.
