MINNEAPOLIS -- Direct marketer Fingerhut Companies has acquired a 19.9% equity interest in FreeShop International as part of an alliance with the on-line retailer FreeShop (freeshop.com) offers thousands of free and trial offers and brand name products at discount prices. The deal is part of Fingerhut's strategy to become one of the country's leading electronic commerce companies.
