CheckOut.com and its successful network of entertainment destinations (CheckOutMusic.com, CheckOutMovies.com and CheckOutGames.com) were entertainment category leaders in unique pages per visitor in Deember 1999, according to Media Metrix. CheckOut.com's entertainment sites averaged 8.4 unique pages per visitor in a day, surpassing well-known sites including MTV.com, E! Online, Fox.com, MP3.com and Spinner.com.

The 600-store Wherehouse Music chain made a $20 million investment in CheckOut.com and named CheckOut.com as its exclusive online partner in November 1999.
