Licensed non-sports trading cards dealt a mixed hand

Discount Store News, May 17, 1993 by Robert Barrese

Cardz will release The World Famous San Diego Zoo Animals of the Wild cards in June and Muppets trading cards in November.

George Latimer, president of Providence, R.I.-based Lime Rock International, a trading card company in operation for two years, said that about 7% of sales come from discount stores. He added that the company is working on increasing that to 15% by improving marketing efforts.

Lime Rock will debut late this month a collector card set illustrating covers of Starlog magazine, a science fiction and fantasy fanzine.
