Bud's profitability recycles old stores - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Bud's Warehouse Outlet - Wal-Mart

Discount Store News, June 7, 1993

Other floor stackouts included ceiling fans, some of them in opened boxes, that were plunked down at various places throughout the store where-ever there was room.

Bud's makes a special effort to note any defects its merchandise might have, such as an RTA shelving unit that bore this note: "two shelves missing."

About a quarter of the store is devoted to dollar merchandise, the kind of books, small toys, H&BC products, party goods and kitchen gadgets that dollar closeout stores carry.

Another large section was domestics, which offered a great deal of Lady Suzanne brand merchandise.

A small apparel section offered items such as an AmeriCo (a Gitano label) short-sleeved sport shirt for $6. The garment appeared to be current season. Another apparel label was Together, a Spiegel catalog line of casual womens clothing.

To further illustrate Bud's opportunistic buys, the unit also stocked a small selection of live houseplants.
